DIY Hostess Gift Idea

Thanks For Sharing!

600x200_GuestWithTheBest

How many of you have attended a baby or bridal shower this summer? Ti’s the season, right? It’s always great to bring a gift for the hostess and more often than not flowers always seem to fit the bill. Everyone loves them, including me! I love flowers, I love giving them and receiving them but let’s face it they are typically ready to toss after a few weeks. So why not give them a little something extra that will last a little while longer?

DIY wooden vase holder tutorial - super easy!

Instead of giving just a bouquet of flowers, why not make a beautiful vase to go with? It will be a sentiment that will last a lot longer and a handmade gift is always appreciated. So today I’m going to show you a quick DIY Hostess Gift Idea that include making a wood vase display out of scrap wood!

DIY Wood Floral Vase

This is a really simple DIY project and only takes a few steps.  There is a little bit of cutting involved and using a nailing (which is super fun), but don’t be scared. You will have a beautiful original piece in no time.

And the best part yet, all you need is a cylinder glass vase from the dollar store, some wood scraps and spray paint.

DIy Wooden Vase - Supplies

SUPPLIES

  • 5 X 5 ” piece of wood
  • (2) 1″ square pieces of wood
  • (16) 1 X 5″ pieces of wood
  • (4) 1 1/2″ wood screws
  •  nail gun
  • 320 grit sand paper
  • spray paint
  • 3 1/2″ glass vase

DIY Wooden Vase 1I picked up a pack of scrap wood at the hardware store, they have lots of fun pieces to work with. I cut a piece of 5X5″ to use as a platform and then screwed on the 1″ square pieces onto each corner.

DIY Wooden Vase 2Using a brad nailer, I attached the 1″ (boards) onto the sides. I did 4 pieces on each side.

DIY Wooden Vase - Spray Painted

After it was complete I spray painted it with a mixture of rubbed bronze and metallic silver for a metal look.

Then place your glass jar inside and fill it with gorgeous flowers!

This project could be personalized so many ways. Also, when I saw it, I immediately thought how useful it would be to carry flowers in the car. It’s always a challenge to travel with flowers without them tipping over.
