So I’ve been keeping a secret…. WE’RE MOVING!!!!
Yup, our house is officially on the market as of yesterday and we are so excited to start this new adventure. So in case you’ve been wondering why things are so slow around here, that’s why.
OK. I’ve never sold a home before and I had NO idea how much work went into getting a house ready to sell and packing everything into storage (especially with two small kids). I mean, I used to a good DIY project, but not in such a short amount of time! Normally I work on projects during the day and blog at night and right now my life is 24/7 working on the house and packing. Phew!
And I know what you are thinking, “But you JUST finished your kitchen!”. Yes, it just sort of happened that way. At least I’ve had a few months to really enjoy it and I will always have the satisfaction of completing it! We’ve always had the intention of moving, so I’ve gone into each year knowing that this could quite possibly be the year that we would move. But never knowing exactly when that would happen, I’ve been gradually fixing up the house and loving every minute of it.
When we entered into 2014, this year felt a little different. I think part of me knew this would be the year for us to start a new adventure, which is why the word FINISH was my word for this year. Since January 1, I have been all about finishing projects and really focusing bigger projects around our house. Let’s see, so far this year I’ve finished the guest bathroom, our kitchen, master bedroom and have a lot more I haven’t revealed yet! EEEK!
My husband bought our house 9 years ago as a single guy with the plan to keep it for 3 years and sell it. Well, we got married 6 years ago, the economy tanked and the rest is history. So for the last 6 years we’ve been patently waiting, praying and planning for the right time to sell and move into a home that we chose together and wanted to raise our family in.
But in the mean time, I have really fallen in love with our little home. I have embraced it and loved it and enjoyed every single second of fixing it up and having two kids here. It has been a true adventure (after all, it’s what inspired me to start a blog), I have learned so much and to this day I’m sneaking in as many last minute projects as I can! It’s been my big project for (mainly) the last 3 years and it’s a little hard to give it up but I also couldn’t be more excited for what lays ahead.
And what is next you may ask? Well, I’ll save that for another day :)
For now, know that I’ve been taking a million pictures and have so many posts and projects ready to share. And I’ll be talking more about my feelings on moving and some tips I’ve learned on the way.
(And please say a quick pray that our house sells fast! THANK YOU!)
SOOOO exciting! best of luck to you!
SO exciting for you and your family! Can’t wait to see your new place :)
So exciting!! I have the itch to sell my home too. I will wait a few years probably until my son finishes state college and then we will be off. Love the adventure!!
Congrats!!! Soon you’ll have a whole new house of DIY projects to work on :)
SO Much work, right!? But so worth it. We did all the little things we’d always planned to do right before moving out of our apartment. It’s funny how having strangers come in and scrutinize your home makes you want it to be perfect.
Your home is GORGEOUS. I’m sure it’ll sell in no time :)
