After moving into our new home just about 9 months ago (aaaahh, how where did time go?), one of the first things on our list was to install blinds. Blinds were really important for us for a number of reasons, 1)privacy 2)keeping bedrooms dark for the kids 3) protection from the sun.
I decided to go with Blinds.com on this big decision and I wanted to share my very honest experience with all of you. So let’s check them out…
I knew I wanted to go with Wood Blinds for the bedrooms but didn’t know which ones. Blinds.com has SO many options it was a little daunting. (See more of Miss E’s room here)
Good thing they have amazing customer service and design teams and I was able to consult with someone from blinds.com and get exactly what I wanted. I was looking for wood blinds that had a really sleek look with clean lines. I ended up going with the 2 3/4″ Architectural Wood Blinds . The slats are a little thicker than normal giving them a more modern look.
I’m really happy with the look of the blinds, I think they achieve the look I wanted for our bedrooms. They match the clean lines of the house and have a very timeless look that will last for years to come. (see more of Little Man’s room here)
However, despite how beautiful they look I haven’t been very impressed with the functionality. To pull the blinds up and down takes a bit of arm strength, it’s definitely a two arm job. They are heavy. Not nearly as smooth as I would hope. And when shutting the blinds sometimes I have to tug 2-3 times really hard to get them to stay closed or they just pop right open. The original blinds we received for our office didn’t rotate at all but blinds.com was gracious and replaced them.
Here is your very first glimpse into our office. Our beautiful office that’s basically empty except for a desk my husband refinished almost 10 years ago. That’s it. This room is right off our front entry, it’s a beautiful space and it’s screaming to get decorated. Once I finish up the kids’ rooms this will be my next big project. But for now, the blinds are a step in the right direction. I love the contrast between the crisp white and the dark molding.
Let’s talk valences. I have a love/hate relationship with these puppies. I went with an inside mount with no return and in the modern style. I am so happy with the look, I wanted a really clean/modern valence and this is absolutely perfect.
There has just been one small problem with these valences. After FOUR shipments, we have yet to get the correct valences for our blinds. From being shipped the wrong style (twice), being sent someone else’s order and on the final shipment two of them were an inch too long and won’t fit. After the fourth order, I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and cut the valences down to size myself. Everyone I’ve worked with at Blinds.com has been so awesome and gracious and is always quick to fix the problem but we still haven’t gotten it right…
Aren’t those larger slats beautiful? I’m so happy with them.
C lick here to see who the Norman Roman shades look in our family room. I absolutely love these!
I think blinds.com has a wonderful selection and they are absolutely amazing to work with. The customer service rocks and everyone has been so helpful. I definitely recommend the Norman Roman Shades, but I may look into other wood blind options if you want to go that route.
