DIY Driftwood Mirror

When I think of summer I think of the beach, the sand, laughter, bbqs, bright colors and lots of driftwood. Yes driftwood. Growing up, I spent most of my summers up at my grandparent’s beach cabin and our days were spent collecting treasures on the beach. We always find tons of driftwood, shells, rocks and anything else that washes up. Even though I’m a big kid now (some may even call me an adult), I still like to take weekend trips up to the beach house with my own family and continue to look for treasures. We were up there a few weekends ago and I couldn’t help but do a little crafting with my finds :)

I decided to take my treasures and create a fun Driftwood Mirror for the nursery. This fun piece could be used as a piece of modern decor or used in a beach themed space and is very inexpensive to make.

Supply List:

– Square Mirror ( I found this Ikea mirror for $.25 at a garage sale!)

– Small Pieces of Driftwood

– White Acrylic Paint and accent color of your choice

– Paint Brush

– Hot Glue

I started by giving the mirror one base coat of white acrylic paint to brighten it up.

Next comes the hardest part of the project, trying to fit the pieces together. It’s like putting together a puzzle and I must say it’s a little therapeutic! I laid all of my pieces out first and then hot glued them in place.

As much as I love mixing natural elements with bright white, I thought this project just needed a little burst of color. I went with a Blue Bahama to give it that little modern twist. IMG_1219

So next time you are on a beach, keep your eye out for hidden treasures!

What types of things scream summer to you? Do you decorate your home for summer time?

Euro Summer First stop Paris 🇫🇷. It’s been Euro Summer First stop Paris 🇫🇷. It’s been 19 years since I’ve been here and it’s even more magical than I remember! There is something truly special about this city. The architecture, the people, the most amazing pastries, and gorgeous gardens. Showing my family this city was a gift. I experience it in a different way each time and it just keeps getting better.

Comments OUTDOOR for all the info on our backyard Comments OUTDOOR for all the info on our backyard furniture and decor! Unfortunately, when I get an idea I can’t stop until it’s done 😉. I got an itch to swap out our three chaise lounges for a large U-Shape sectional to create more seating and lounging poolside. I knew there was only one brand who could make this happen… I worked with @polywood to design a sectional that would be a complete custom fit for this little nook. I used the Braxton 6 Seat Sectional and added additional modular seats to get this look. I LOVE how it turned out! They can make anything happen!

POLYWOOD outdoor furniture is made out of recycled plastics, making it durable in all weather climates. They also have a 20 year warranty.

POV: working with what you have and creating somet POV: working with what you have and creating something completely new! I kept all the original flooring, cabinets, backsplash and fixtures and did only cosmetic updates to update this space. I wanted to add more contrast, character, warmth and texture. By smoothing out the texture of the walls it instantly gave it an updated look, the new paint color added contrast, the wood ceiling added warmth and texture and all the antiques and vintage pieces gave it the charm. 🖤
